Simple Past Tense atau Past Tense adalah kalimat yang dipergunakan untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa atau perbuatan yang terjadi pada waktu lampau dan waktu kejadian atau peristiwa diketahui.

(+) I went to Jakarta last week = Saya pergi ke Jakarta minggu kemaren.
(+) They came here a few minute a go = Mereka datang kesini beberapa menit yang lalu.
(+) My Mother fried chicken two days a go = Ibuku menggoreng ayam dua hari yang lalu.
(+) She decorated my house last year = Dia mendekor/menghiasi rumah saya tahun lalu.
(+) We were happy last week end = Kami gembira pekan lalu.
(+) She wrote letter to me yesterday = Dia telah menulis surat kepadaku kemaren.

Kalimat Negative atau kalimat menyangkal maka menambahkan not (n't) dibelakang to be (was, were atau did)
(-) You were not here last night = Kamu tidak berada disini tadi malam.
(-) We didn't see Television last night = Kami tidak menonton Televisi tadi malam.
(-) She did not go to Dubay last year = Dia tidak pergi ke Dubay tahun lalu.
(-) I didn't swim last week = Saya tidak berenang minggu lalu.
