Formula :

(+) I/ We/ You/ They + had + been + Infinitive + ing
     He/ She/ It + had + been + infinitive + ing

(-) I/ We/ You/ They + had not (hadn't) + been + Infinitive + ing
     He/ She/ It + had not (hadn't) + been + Infinitive + ing

(?) Had + I/ We/ You/ They + been + Infinitive + ing?
      Had + He/ She/ It + been + Infinitive + ing?

(+) She had been reading a book when he came = Saya telah membaca buku ketika dia datang.

(+) When I finished my home work, my friend had been sleeping = Ketika saya selesai mengerjakan pekerjaan rumah saya, teman saya telah tertidur.

(+) When She came to Bogor in 2003, they had already living there about three years. = Ketika dia datang ke Bogor pada tahun 2003, mereka telah tinggal disana sekitar tiga tahun.

     He/ She/ It + had + been + infinitive + ing

(+) We had been going to campus = Kami telah sedang pergi ke kampus.
(+) I had been writing letter = Saya telah sedang menulis surat.
(+) We had been studying English = Kami telah sedang belajar bahasa Inggris.
(+) It had been living there = Dia telah sedang tinggal disana.
(+) He had been going to work = Dia telah sedang bekerja.
(+) My brother had been waching television = Saudaraku telah sedang menonton televisi.

Kalimat Negative :
(-) I/ We/ You/ They + had not (hadn't) + been + Infinitive + ing
     He/ She/ It + had not (hadn't) + been + Infinitive + ing
~ Menambahkan not (n't) di belakang had, apabila membuat kalimat negative.

(-) We hadn't been going to campus  when you came = Kami belum sampai ke kampus ketika kamu datang.
(-) I had not been writing letter = Saya belum selesai menulis surat.
(-) We had not been studying English = Kami belum selesai belajar bahasa Inggris.
(-) It hadn't been living there = Dia tidak sedang tinggal disana.
(-) He had not been going to work = Dia belum selesai bekerja.
(-) My brother had been waching television = Saudaraku belum selesai menonton televisi.
